Dr Tiyana Jovanovic is a founder, researcher, and systems change practitioner working to advance the transition toward a more just, regenerative, and democratic economy. She is the founder and CEO of the Humanitarian Changemakers Network, a global learning and media ecosystem that equips changemakers with practical tools for impact strategy, systems thinking, and empowerment-centred development.
Tiyana holds a PhD in Communication for Social Change, where her research developed an explanatory theory of empowerment, grounded in fieldwork with rural communities in India. Today, her research focuses on resilience for social and economic development. Her work bridges rigorous theory and practical application, with a particular focus on resilience, reflexivity, and the role of ICTs in enabling transformative development pathways.
Alongside her academic and entrepreneurial work, Tiyana is actively engaged in Australia’s new economy movement, including leadership contributions with the New Economy Network Australia. Through her teaching, speaking, writing, and media work — including the Voices of the New Economy podcast — she supports emerging and established changemakers to move beyond fragmented solutions and design systemic interventions that are strategic, grounded, and future-fit.
