Phil Jones is a recently retired high school science teacher, the secretary/treasurer of the NSW Chapter of the Centre for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy. He was a contributing author to the book “Positive Steps to a Steady State Economy” edited by the late Haydn Washington. He is an activist in the area of social justice and on climate change. He has developed a Moodle website, “Our Environment and Our Economy” housing a series of online, self-contained lessons designed for Year 9-10 Science classes. He is the convenor of an advocacy network of Catholic Parish Social Justice Groups in the Diocese of Broken Bay known as SJ Around the Bay in the northern region of Sydney and the Central Coast. He is a promoter of the Laudato Si Action Platform, a worldwide initiative within the Catholic Church to promote action on the climate crisis and its impact on the poorer and more marginalised.
